Yarn destashing is working!

I posted a picture of my Red Heart stash when joining this group, and I never did get around to posting pics of my Caron's Simply Soft stash or my Homespun stash. However, the RH and SS yarn is all dwindling down, even with me buying some now and again!

Here are three before pics of my Red Heart stash and then one of what it looks like today.

And as of today, it looks like this:

That's a huge difference! There is no way I could have fit all of the RH stash into that bookshelf when joining this community. Granted it's still a lot, but I'm making a dent in it! (and yes, that bottom shelf does have some material on it. My six year old helped me by putting away some stuff.)

My Simply Soft stash has a huge dent in it from the blanket I posted the other day, plus I've made a lot of hats from it as well. I'm sort of sorry to see that stash go. I love Simply Soft!

My Homespun stash isn't very big, and that's good because I've not really had a chance to do anything with it yet.

I'm just excited that I'm seeing results!

Oh wow, congratulations on your destashing! :)
Thanks! :)
Great job! I only wish I could say I've made that big a dent in my stash!

I swear it's breeding, because whenever I go through a few balls of yarn for a project, I find a few more that have mysteriously appeared in a place I could have sworn I checked before. Only yesterday I found a ball of white wool behind the couch, and I have no idea how it got there!

Do you have any specific plans for any of the yarn that you have left?
Ha! A friend and I joke about the yarn breeding thing all of the time! :)

I'm going to use part of the stash to make blankets for the local animal shelter. I'm taking random skeins that I know I probably won't use and double stranding them with some of the white yarn I have, so I'm using up a lot that way. Others are slated for hats, scarves, purses, and I think I might be able to get a random-looking baby blanket out of a few.
I've got a ton of oddballs lying around my apartment that are no doubt going to get turned into scarves and hats and probably donated to a local woman's shelter at Christmastime. I've considered some blankets for the animal shelter, too. Quick simple projects that may not mean much to me but will no doubt mean sometime to someone else, and it helps me cut down on the insane stash o' doom that's taking over my apartment.
Two things...

Your stash busting is awesome!

And now my stash does not feel so overwhelming to me. :)
rofl I'm glad I could help you out! ;)
I feel less bad about sending you more yarn now ;)
hahahaha! Definitely don't feel bad. As crazy as it sounds, I *love* getting random yarn in the mail. I have a friend who has sent me some in the past (well, a few friends actually), and I get all excited like it's Christmas or something. :D
